SL v WI -1st ODI: Sri Lanka chases down DLS target!

The first ODI match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies took place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. Sri Lanka winning by 5 wickets (DLS), taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

The match was interrupted by rain when the West Indies were at 185 for 4 in 38.3 overs. Sherfane Rutherford and Roston Chase were not out, with scores of 74 and 33 runs respectively. After the rain, Sri Lanka was given a revised target of 232 runs to chase in 37 overs (DLS).

For Sri Lanka, debutant Nishan Madushka played excellently, scoring 64 runs, and captain Charith Asalanka added 77 runs. Gudakesh Motie took 3 wickets and Alzarri Joseph 2 for the West Indies. However, Kamindu Mendis ended the game with a big six, securing Sri Lanka’s victory with 31 balls remaining.
