Sri Lanka Cricket Sponsors Blind Cricket Team for the World Cup.

Sri Lanka Cricket granted Rs. 6 million to the Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Team to take part in the 5th edition of the Blind T20 World Cup, which is currently underway in Pakistan.

The grant was handed over to the Sri Lanka Cricket Association (SLCAVH) for the Visually Handicapped, which is the governing body of the Visually Handicapped Cricket Team of Sri Lanka. The grant was offered to purchase air tickets and visas for 21 members of the team, the hiring of practice nets, and grounds for pre-tour preparations.

Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO, Sri Lanka Cricket, handed over the check to Mr. Sudesh Tharanga, the President of the SLCAVH, at the SLC premises recently.

Sri Lanka Cricket has been constantly supporting the visually handicapped team to continue playing the game. Among those assistance ranks providing financial support for the Sri Lanka Blind Team during its tour of Australia in 2014, the Asia Cup Tournament in 2016, the T20 Blind World Cup in 2017, the ODI Blind World Cup in 2018, the Pakistan Tour of Sri Lanka in 2019, and the third edition of the T20 World Cup held in India in 2022. The above grants are part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program
