Natthandia Dhammissara School girls managed to show outstanding performance in the DSI School Volleyball Tournament organized by Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and Sri Lanka School Volleyball Association together with the full support of Samson & Sons.
There were 10 boys and girls finals under 5 age groups at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, and Dhammissara athletes won the championships in 6 of them. It included boys and girls under 11 and 13 along with boys and girls under 15 and 17 championships.
Hungama Vijayaba National School won the under-5 girls’ championship and Giriulla Wickramashila National School won the under-17 girls’ championship. Apart from this, Dhammissar also won the third places in girls under 15 and boys under 19.
In the under-19 event, the boys’ championship was won by Ruwanwella Rajasingha School and the girls’ championship went to Hungama Wijayaba National School, while the runners-up were Pannala National School and Ruwanwella Rajasingha Central School respectively.
In the boys’ final, Pannala National School lost to Rajasinghe by 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23). Ruwanwella Rajasinghe lost 3-0 to Wijayaba in the girls final. The scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-7.
Giriulla Wickramashila National School’s L.K.M., who won the under-17 girl’s championship as the best player of the year. Harshani Nisansala won the awards, Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Middle School K.S.M. Induranga Ratnayake was awarded as the best player of the year.
