This petition was withdrawn according to a settlement reached before the court by the parties related to the petition. Appellate Court Judges Lafar Tahir and P. The petition was called before an appellate bench consisting of Mr. Kumaran Ratnam.
When the petition was previously called before the court, the Additional Solicitor General and President’s Advocate Mr. Sumathi Dharmawardena, who appeared for the respondents including the Attorney General, said that The Secretary of the Ministry of Sports has decided to hold an annual election to appoint officers to the Sri Lanka Rugby Union.
Accordingly, the Director General of Sports, who is the competent authority appointed for the game of rugby, will immediately call the election to appoint new officials.
For that, it has been decided to appoint a three-member committee consisting of a member of the National Olympic Committee and two members of the Ministry of Sports, and the Director General of Sports will call a special general meeting and take necessary steps to appoint the selection committee.
