Direct qualification for Sri Lanka in Women’s World Cup

Yesterday, Sri Lanka managed to directly qualify for the Women’s One Day Cricket World Cup to be held in India next year.

New Zealand lost the series 2-0 after losing the third match of the ICC Women’s Championship against the touring Australian team in Wellington yesterday. With this they had to finish this championship in 6th place with 21 bonus points.

Sri Lanka is currently in the 5th position with 22 points, and hosts India (27) will also qualify directly for the World Cup along with the 5 leading teams in this 10-team championship. Australia (39), England (32), and South Africa (25) have also reserved places in the World Cup.
