The Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament 2025, the premier event in the golfing calendar, will be held at the spectacular Eagles’ Golf Links in China Bay, Trincomalee, on 17-18 January.
The tournament is hosted by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) with the assistance of Dialog Enterprise as the Main Exclusive Sponsor for the fifth consecutive year, displaying its attentiveness to advancing the sport of golf in the country.
The event brings together Sri Lanka’s top-ranked golfers, and offers a unique opportunity for participants from the Tri-Forces, Police and civilian sectors to compete in a challenging game of golf at this exceptional and scenic location.
More than 100 men and women golfers from across the country and around the world have actively signed up for the tournament and an exciting weekend of golf is anticipated.
This is the 12th iteration of the tournament, which commenced in 2013, and is being held under the guidance of Sri Lanka Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa.
Dialog Enterprise Group Chief Officer, Navin Peiris, expressed the company’s pride in partnering with SLAF for the fifth consecutive year to enhance the prestigious Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament.
As part of a strategic initiative to boost sports tourism, SLAF has developed golf courses at key locations, including Anuradhapura, Koggala and China Bay.
These courses, such as the Koggala Golf Links situated in the Southern Province, have become integral to promoting the combination of sports and tourism.
Notably, the trio of Golf Links, including Koggala Golf Links, has played a distinctive role, hosting numerous events that accumulated the participation of over 450 golf enthusiasts, both local and foreign, throughout 2024.
The Eagles’ Challenge Trophy, which will be awarded to the top performer among serving members of the armed services, will be up for grabs in addition to other major trophies among the tri-forces golfers (both men and women).
These trophies, along with other titles and accolades, will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony Night, which will be held on 18 January and graced by the Commander of the SLAF.
