Shenuk Samararatne won the Open Men’s Singles Championship and Nethmi Ratnayake won the Open Women’s Singles Championship in the Northern Province All Sri Lanka Open Badminton Championship organized by the Northern Province Badminton Association under the approval of the Sri Lanka Badminton Institute.
Shenuk Samararatne defeated Thilina Rajakaruna with the score of 21-19 and 21-15 in the open men’s singles final of the tournament held at the Omanthei Vavunia District Sports Complex.
Nethmi Ratnayake defeated Sithuli Ranasinghe in the open women’s singles final with the score of 21-14 and 22-20. She was defeated.
Bhuwaneka Gunathilaka and Jason Homer won the open men’s doubles title after defeating Oshamika Karunaratne and Tulith Palliaguru 12-21, 21-16 and 21-12. The open women’s doubles title was won by Isuri Attanayake and Situmi de Silva who defeated Nilasi Balasuriya and Jananuvani de Alvis by 21-19 and 21-14.
Tulith Palliyaguru and Panchali Adhikari won the open mixed doubles title by defeating Madhuka Dulanjana and Anurangi Maskorala by 21-16 and 21-16.
In the under-19 boys singles final, Maneth Wijegunawardena won the title by defeating Pamith Attanayake with 17-21, 21-12 and 21-11 points, while Dilni Ambalangoda defeated Achini Gamage with 21-12 and 21-4 points. She won the girls’ singles title in the division.
The boys’ doubles championship was won by Sanidu Ariyasinghe and Thisath Rupathunga who defeated Dinindu Samarasinghe and Dinindu Situsara by 21-18 and 21-14.
