Sri Lankan ruggerites finish fourth in Asian Games Rugby 7s

Sri Lankan ruggerites, who carried nations hopes for a medal at the 2018 Asian Games, went down fighting to South Korea 14-36 in the Bronze Medal match at the GBK rugby field Jakartha on Saturday. Sri Lanka managed to score only two tries which were duly converted but conceded 6 tries to the opponents.

Sri Lanka trailed the first half 0-19 and in the second half Ashan Ratwatte scored the first try to convert it by himself and Vithana Gamage scored the second try with Ratwatte making a successful conversion.

In the semi-final match against favorites Japan, Sri Lanka did better to contain the Japanese conceding only two tries. Sri Lanka too scored two tries but failed convert any and Japan won a narrow margin of a conversion points.
