Rumesh and Aruna to compete in Sydney tomorrow

Former Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga and 400m runner Aruna Darshana are scheduled to participate in the Sydney Track Classic to be held in Australia tomorrow (15).

This competition is being held as a ‘Challenger Event’ in the World Athletics Continental Championships series.

Both of them are currently staying in Australia, and Rumesh Tharanga also participated in two tournaments held in Australia in recent weeks.

There, he achieved a performance of 82.66 meters in the ‘Strive Program – A’ competition and a performance of 85.41 meters in the ‘Perth Track Classic’ competition, which was his best performance of the year at that time.

Rumesh and Aruna will have the opportunity to directly qualify for the Tokyo World Championships if they achieve performances of 85.50 meters in the javelin throw and 44.85 seconds in the 400 meters at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Complex tomorrow.
