NNZ Women, SL Women Share Series Trophy After 3rd T20I Ends In ‘No Result’

New Zealand Women and Sri Lanka share the T20I Series Trophy, as the last match of the series ends in a ‘No Result’. The 3rd T20I fixture, which was scheduled to be played at University Of Otago Oval in Dunedine, saw only 14.1 overs being bowled, as persistent rain ended up resulting in the match getting abandoned.

With the conclusion of the fixture, Sri Lanka Women’s tour of New Zealand now comes to an end, as the Asian champions recorded only a solitary win across 3 T20I’s and ODI’s.

Suzie Bates (New Zealand Women Captain):
“Unfortunately, I thought we would get a game here, we had a positive start with the bat but it’s such a shame to not get a result in a series decider, it is important for this young group. Bree Illing, upfront with the ball and bowling to some of the best batters and Izzy Sharp, her contribution has been massive too.”

“Excited about the future and with Polly behind the stumps, she is adding more depth to our squad. I’m loving it, the crowd turning out for the games, it’s such a good profile for cricket in the country. We still have world class players like Kerr coming back soon for the Aussie series.”

Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Captain):
“Our players have been playing good cricket in both the formats. We have had six newcomers. Trying to introduce youngsters. There are some areas to improve but as a captain, I am really proud of them. In the ODIs, we struggled but we adjusted and did better in this series.”

“Today again, unfamiliar conditions for us. Yeah, we have been playing good cricket in T20ls over the last 12-15 months but the 50-over World Cup is coming up, so we have to bounce back. We have a couple of weeks break after which we have to come back and focus on areas where we have to improve
