James Anderson knighted for services to cricket

England fast bowling great James Anderson has been awarded a knighthood in former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours list.

Anderson, who retired from international cricket with a record 704 Test wickets, remains active in domestic cricket with Lancashire.

He is the only sportsperson featured on the list and was praised for his remarkable contributions to the game, including 4 Ashes wins.

England and Wales Cricket Board chair Richard Thompson called the honour “well-deserved” for a player who inspired millions.
