Asian Netball: We have to play with more confidence – coachThilaka Jinadasa

Sri Lanka has revived their netballing talents after years under the new coach Thilaka Jinadasa who had strategically uplifted the playing standards and spirits of the lasses to re-live the winning confidence in Sri Lanka netball.

Sri Lanka netball team is progressing well unbeaten in the Asian Netball Championship and is knocking at the door to get qualified for the Netball World Cup to be held in Liverpool, England in July next year.

Having won the Asian netball crown under her services as coach in 2009, Thilaka Jinadasa said that there are two matches to go for the crown and we are lucky to meet Hong Kong in the semi-finals as we have defeated them convincingly in the second round match.

” We are ready to play Asian Netball semi final. Playing in semi final is very tough but we are ready to take that challenge. We have beaten Hong Kong in our league game to boost our confidence, but semi-final is a semi-final.” said coach Jinadasa.

“After nine years, we have got chance to get the Asian crown. My girls are very positive. We need to improve on our speed.” pointed out Sri Lankan coach.

Sri Lanka’s asian champion coach said that Malasysia is very good team and they are very quick and they are here to defend their title. “We need to rebuild a good game plan against Malaysia if we face Malaysia in the finals” reiterated Jinadasa.

“I think before that we need to prove out talents at the semi final and make sure that we make it to the finals with confidence. I work a lot with fitness of the players and that is a key for success” added Jinadasa.

Sri Lankan coach also said that the composition of the team with talent and height advantage had given them an edge in the tournament and she looked forward to exploit every strategy to bring back home the Asian netball crown.
