
The Sri Lanka Super Series 2025 Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) was launched for the eighth year on 23 April with the sponsorship of several stakeholder brands of the sports industry.
The Sri Lanka Super Series is the only premier championship in motor racing looked forward to by drivers and riders in the country. Furthermore, this event is meant to showcase exceptional racing talent, which has reached the pinnacle of championship and has attracted top competitors and spectators.
All upcoming racing events will be telecast live on TV and are expected to be streamed live on YouTube and other media platforms.
Speaking about the upcoming championship, SLARDAR President Shameera Abeynayake said: “This year’s Super Series is a major milestone as it is the most prominent event in the 2025 national racing calendar. Unlike the previous year, the number of confirmed sponsorships has increased, showing that the enthusiasm for motorsports in Sri Lanka has evolved.
“We look forward to the numbers of competitors and sponsorships further increasing following the official launch. We also invite all racing enthusiasts to experience the Super Series racing the roads for the eighth year.”
This year’s calendar includes the Single Tree Hill Climb in Nuwara Eliya, already completed on 6 and 7 April, and the Mahameruwa Rallycross (Race 1) in Giriulla, which began yesterday (26) and will end today (27).
In May, the Cavalry Supercross will take place in Kurunegala. Meanwhile, the SLARDAR Supercross – Mahameruwa will take place in Giriulla in June, while the Mahameruwa Rallycross (Race 2) will be held in Giriulla in August.
The Katukurunda Circuit Meet (jointly organised with Royal Automobile Club Asia) will be held in October in Katukurunda, while the Sri Lanka Super Series 2025 Awards Night and Dinner Dance will proceed in December. The dates will be confirmed in due course.
SLARDAR’s legacy dates back to April 1983. It has evolved into a premium and streamlined motor racing club in Sri Lanka, demonstrating its dedicated service to motorsports with its vision to “remain committed to the continuous improvement and advancement of motorsports in Sri Lanka”.
“We aim to drive the sport to new heights by offering world-class events and providing valuable opportunities to our competitors and sponsors,” the association has stated.
Over the years, SLARDAR has spearheaded the designing and development of a significant number of racing tracks, contributing to the growth of motorsports in Sri Lanka.
The association’s commitment to reward competitors and promote the sport has earned it a reputation as the original and premier motor racing club in Sri Lanka.
In 2024, it established Sri Lanka’s first privately owned racing track, the Mahameruwa Racing Arena in Giriulla.
