Sri Lanka brimming with confidence beat a spirited Hong Kong 55- 46 in the semi-final encounter in the Asian Netball Championships now underway in Singapore.
Sri Lanka now will meet the winners of the other semi-final match between the hosts Singapore and defending champions Malaysia later today.
However, booking the final berth in the Asian final was much big achievement as it confirmed Sri Lanka netball’s participation at next year’s World Cup Netball Tournament in Liverpool, England.
Large crowds gathered to support Sri Lanka’s efforts
Sri Lanka started from behind finishing the first quarter 13 – 14 with Hong Kong leading and then scored 15 goals to 10 in the second quarter. After a close fight Sri Lanka scored 12 goals to 10 against Hong Kong and the final quarter 15 points to Hong Kong’s 12.
