A re-grouped Sri Lankan cricket team took wings to United Arab Emirates to participate in the Asian Cup cricket tournament with lot of confidence and match-practice in limited over cricket following recently concluded regional T20 cricket tournament played in Sri Lanka.

Packed with in-form players and some star players coach Chandika Hathurusinghe is taking along a formidable squad that he thinks should be shuffled well to make a winning combination.

“We are confident and very keen to make a good to take the challenge of wining the forthcoming Asia cup cricket tournament” said Sri Lankan cricket coach Chandika Hathurusinghe hours before their departure this evening at the SLC headquarters.

“After the South Africa series, we have trained seriously focusing on this tournament. Actually we had sufficient match practice too in the limited over format with the T20 tournament” said Hathurusinghe elaborating that it is not upto the players to adapt to the international game in the ODI format.

Coach Hathurusinghe said that the tournament was very helpful to evaluate the current form and strengths of our players and accordingly we will make our game plan against each and every opponent in the tournament without undestimating anyone.

Lasith Malinga was recalled to the team after almost one year after the player was forced to show himself about his fitness levels and match practice.
