Olympic medalist Susanthika appointed as Consultant to Sports Ministry

Former sprint queen of Sri Lanka and Olympic medalist Susanthika Jayasinghe is in the news again, this time with an appointment by the Minister of Sports Faizer Mustapha, who had offered a consultancy job at the ministry of sports.

Soon after receiving her new appointment as the Consultant to the minstry of sport in Sri Lanka, Susanthika said that any athlete who brought honour to the motherland wanted always render their service back to the country. ” I never praised much this sports minister, but he had done his part. Now it is my turn to offer a good service to country’s sports.” thanks Susanthika adding that she was still involved in country’s politics and it is her duty to support good leaders of the country even though sometimes political influence could damage the sport.

A generous sports minister Mustapha said that he intends to offer a vehicle and other facilities to Susanthika, whom he expects would run around the country to find good athletes for the country. “She is a good example herself for all young athletes of the country, because she had gone through many difficulties to come up the ladder in life” said Mustapha adding that it was his duty to correct some of the injustice happened to her in the past.

“I am happy to do my service for the benefit of the sports. I hope to play a role as a specialist for sprint events” said  Susanthia who boasted about her four world level medals including Olympics.
