SLC boost visual handicapped cricketers touring India

Sri Lanka’s visually handicapped cricketers received a big boost ahead of their cricket tour to India from the Sri Lanka Cricket and the ministry of sports. The team will participate in a tri-nation featuring India and England.

Sri Lanka’s minister of sports Faizer Mustapha who attended at the departure ceremony said that it is the responsibility of his ministry and Sri Lanka Cricket to assist the development of the visually handicapped cricketers. “Sri Lanka Cricket should provide all the facilities necessary for these cricketers. Sri Lanka visually handicapped cricketers are fairing well at international level and had won many tournaments with limited facilities they enjoy” stressed the minister of sports.

Sri Lankan visual handicapped team will be lead by Pritantha Kumara for the first time. “I am confident about this side, we have the services of two past captains too” said Priyantha Kumara thanking Sri Lanka for facilities provided for a week of residential training at Sooriyawewa Mahinda Rajapakshe International stadium.

Sri Lanka will play five T20 matches and three ODIs against India and England. Team Manager Chaminda Pushpakumara was impressed with the assistance rendered by Sri Lanka Cricket and said that this tour is going to be very important for his team, that is preparing for the 2020 world cup.
