Sri Lanka’s top-seeded badminton pair Thilini Hendahewa and Kavidi Sirimanna unfortunately missed out of the semi-final at the Bangladesh International Badminton series when they lost to Indonesia at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Sri Lankan duo lost the first set 11/21 but they fought back to win the second set 21/13 to level the game. In a late rally, the Indonesian pair won the third set by 21/17 and thus earned their berth in the semi-final. Earlier Both Thilini and Kavidi lost the women’s singles matches. Sri Lankan National champion Dinuka Karunaratna also lost his single game in the second round.
However, Kavidi and Thilini were able to win silver medals at the Nepal International Badminton series held in Kathmandu before this tour. (D.R)
