Two promising shuttlers Buwaneka Gunathilaka and Sachin Dias have been selected for a special training course conducted by Badminton Asia which is now in progress in Malaysia.
Buwaneka and Sachin the top seed men’s double pair recently excelled at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and they reached the semi finals for the first time. But unfortunately they couldn’t win the silver medal Both Buwaneka and Sachin reached the quarter final stage at the Asian Games in Indonesia.
According to the President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Nishantha Jayasinghe Buwaneka and Sachin have a good future and we are focusing on Olympics. This special training course in Malaysia is very important for them.
Koo Keen Kait Olympic doubles medalist from Korea is conducting this training course while shuttlers from Nepal, Mongolia, Cambodia, Bahrain, Iran, Vietnam, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are taking part in this programme.
The shuttlers who perform well will be selected for Asian Olympic project 2019 after this course.
