NCC’s Angelo Perera makes history with two double tons in a match

NCC Captain Angelo Perera created history with making two double hundreds in both innings in a match on Sunday when he scored 201 and 231 against SSC  in their Premier League Tier A super eight game played at P. Sara Oval grounds.

The 28-year-old right-hander Perera is the only Sri Lanka player to score two double hundred in a match with fine batting form. Perera who come to the middle as number five batsman scored 201 in 203 balls hit 20 fours and a six in the first innings, while he was batting in the same position number five in the second innings, stroked  231 in 268 balls with 20 fours and three sixes to establish new record with c0mpleted two double centuries in a match .

This was Perera’s 94 th first-class match and he already scored  6941 runs with 18 centuries including three double hundreds and 33 half centuries. Anjelo  Perera already played four one day Internationals and two T-20’S  but never get chance to represent the National test team.

Earlier England Arthur Fagg is the only player to have scored two double hundreds in both innings of a first-class match. Fagg played for Kent did this achievement against Essex in Colchester on 13th July 1938. He hit 244 in the first innings while scored 202 not out in second innings.
