MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Minsk is a convenient venue for hosting international sports events, expert of the University of Lausanne Sven Daniel Wolfe told the media at the roundtable “Impulses of Large Sports Events for Sustainable Urban and Regional Development” on 11 April, BelTA has learned. “Sports facilities in Minsk are in excellent condition for the European Games. Dinamo Stadium has amazed me most with its architecture.
It will be popular after the June sports forum. Minsk is a convenient venue for hosting various international sports tournaments. My goal is to share experience and make sure that the mistakes are the fewest in the organization of competitions. I think this is not the last major competitions for Belarus,” said Sven Daniel Wolfe. He also stressed that visa-free travel during the 2nd European Games is a good opportunity to attract tourists.
Deputy CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Anatol Kotau said the European Games would leave a great legacy to the country. “The city is under a comprehensive upgrade. The competitions will be over, and all the infrastructure and improvements will remain to serve people. We will also expect an inflow of tourists following the sports forum,” he added. The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. A total of 12 sport venues will be used during the games, including Dinamo Stadium, Minsk Arena, and Chizhovka Arena.
