Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College Kandy and Chameera Ginige of University of Sri Jayawardenapura University clinched the open women’s and men’s singles champions at the 72nd National Table Tennis championships recently played at the Army Indoor Stadium Panadoga.
This is the first time two players won this top awards in this Nationals and also won the most outstanding player award of the tournament.
Bimandi made straight 4-0 sets win over Muthumali Priyadharshani of CSCT Campus at the final while Ginige made the thrilling 4-2 win over former National champion Rohan Sirisena. Nadeeka Damayanthi Assitant Director f Sports Development Department was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards at this tournament which conducted by Table Tennis Interim Committee
