The Silver Ferns completed the first round of the Netball World Cup, thrashing World No.26 Singapore 89-21 on Sunday night (NZ time) in Liverpool.
Having beaten Malawi (64-45) and Barbados (78-25) in their opening two matches, nothing short of a convincing victory was expected against Singapore, coached by Kiwi Natalie Milicich.
Ferns coach Noeline Taurua used the Singapore game to mix around her players on court and try a multitude of combinations. She’ll be most delighted there wasn’t any injury concerns in their final first round pool match after key English defender Layla Guscoth suffered a tournament-ending ruptured Achilles tendon against Scotland.
