Sri Lankan Cricket T20 captain Lasith Malinga came up with a performance of his lifetime when he had the four balls to dismiss New Zealand top order to send them reeling and most importantly uncounted records to the history. He is the only cricketer to have had four consecutive wickets, as you call it a double hattrick in cricket, and now he enjoys the feat in two formats in the game ODI and T20.
Going into the third match, Lasith Malinga said that they wanted to pull a win to get back to a winning mentality before they close the New Zealand tour. “Although in the first two T-20 games, we were on the right track scoring over 160, we failed to capitalise to convert any of them to victories. so coming into the final game we were bit under pressure to pull off a win to regain the winning mentality” said Malinga.
Sri Lanka started off the third match in negative comparison to the first two and finished their innings with only 125 onboard to defend.
“An early breakthrough was what could have made us enter into the game and apply some pressure. I am happy that I could do that to the team. I had no pressure in captaining and leading the attack” exclaimed a jubilant Malinga.
He further said that it worked out well at the end with remarkable four wickets in fours balls second time in my carrier and victory to Sri Lanka.
“Getting hat- trick is not an easy as a bowler but the main thing is maintain the mentality to bowl well at right place. I only try my best to bowl the right line and right length and I finish up sending yorkers” said Malinga.
He added that this victory would help him to blend a good squad together ahead of the World Cup next year and he expected to build a good team with more threatening bowlers as the bowling department is very important in T20 cricket.
